      jnorth001,
      I started out with 9 GCSE’s, all A to C grades.
that got me onto my apprenticeship, and I’ve not stopped learning since.
      I’m now quallified to BS7671 – that’s really usefull –
I do still enjoy my job, sure, it has it’s moments, (like any other job )when I’d rather just run to the hills + not look back, but they are very few+far between.
I work on something that has a World Record, and has huge benefits to society, so what’s not to like ???

I got the apprenticeship based on have 9 A-C GCSE’s however I only needed 5 A-C GCSE’s including maths and science.
Since then, the company put me onto my BTEC National Certificate in Civil Engineering and then my HNC in Civil Engineering.
I am now also studying my degree (BEng in Engineering).
It has been difficult studying and working however the sense of achievement and new job opportunities that appear when you have finished a qualification has been worth it.

There are additional qualification that the company like you to have such as having a personal track safety (PTS), overhead line qualification (OLEC), CAT Scanning, First Aid etc. The company will pay for these and give you paid time to attend.

i had my grades are completely different because i studied in Scotland so i have standard credit levels 1 in maths and phsyics, level 2 in french, english, chemistry, modern studies and computing and a 3 in drama. i then have Higher Maths, computing, physics, chemistry and english at a b.
for my apprenticeship i believe all these grades helped but it depends on specific employers as some like to test you themselves.
i have an NC in civil engineering, and HNC in Civil Engineering and a Bachelors of Science Honours Degree in Environmental Civil Engineering.

      thanks

      claire
