• Question: What importance does your position have for the everyday person like me?

      Currently, the electrification project (that I am working on) is to speed up the existing railway line. The high output train that we use should be used throughout the country after we have tested it. This can cut the amount of time it takes to get from one location to the other and new trains can be placed on the rail. There is a new factory in the UK from hitachi that is supposed to be making more efficient trains (cutting pollution and travel time) that have to be run on “electrified” lines.

      the importance my position has on the everyday person is I am delivering (with my team) a huge range of things in an area of high deprivation in Glasgow. If this work was not being done there would be no new houses, schools, gym, businesses, roads, bridges and drainage system.

      Hello rattyvlogger – My role has a long term effect on the UK economy, as we prove concepts work for people, who then take the thought, and turn it into a product.
      A while ago, the public were banned from carrying liquids on airliners. Our scientists found away to detect the contents of any bottle, with out opening it, without x-rays, so I helped build the safety system in the room for the early tests. The finished product is now in use in several major Airports Worldwide, and is selling well, as it is a sollution to a real problem
      We also are working on a simple hand held scanner to check for cancer in a persons body, again without x-rays, or needles, or pills/potions. just pass the detector over the person, and you’ll get a result – not in the shops yet, it’s a project that is going well at the moment, and will help lots of people.
